Description of Project
This was a housing development on the waterfront in Barry Island which contained a pre-designed slope stabilisation proposal by the client’s design team that was not commercially viable. We proposed an alternative design and build solution for the client less than half of the original specified design.
The project consisted of two phases:
Phase 1 – Site investigation (installing and stressing test nails) and design works in preparation for;
Phase 2 – The installation of 2000m2 of Rock Fall Netting, fixed with galvanised steel soil nails. The work was done using rope access methods and the use of a Merlo Roto 360 and a MEWP. We installed over 400 soil nails ranging from 3.5m to 5m long.
